Stooping from the school's upper balcony freshmen year in 2008, Pigoons frontman Dennis Francis (guitar & vocals) hawked a lugie which landed flat on the crown of someone on the lower level, Connor Vandagriff--Pigoons Drummer. They instantly decided to start a band called MOM--Morning of Misfortune--playing local gigs, parties, talent shows, and busking along city sidewalks.

Their music career went on a 10 year hiatus due to college and work. After quitting his job and spending a year on the road living in his minivan with his dog Hoss, Dennis rediscovered his love for music at a Texas Honky Tonk where a chance interaction landed him onstage with Justin Trevino, Jim Loessberg (pedal steel player for Ray Price) and some members of Bob Will's Texas Playboys. Feeling inspired, he reached out to his old buddy Connor to "get the band back together again."
